Home is where it’s at, especially during the pandemic, and all this extra time offers opportunities to recognize whether your current home is your forever home for your for-the-time-being home.  It may come as a surprise to you, but many people who were considering a move prior to the pandemic are searching sooner than anticipated. This survey from Redfin showed the following:

• 25% say that pandemic has caused them to want to move or has sped up their timeline to move. 
• 40% said working remotely is contributing to their desire to move.
• Many of the respondents are now looking for specific spaces due to the pandemic: a dedicated home office or more outdoor space (both 21%), or a designated area for kids to learn from home (7%).

Low mortgage rates are also encouraging homebuyers to take that next step. While economic concerns are still giving people pause, more than half of those surveyed said they want to take advantage of the record interest rates. Like we’ve said before, it’s a perfect time for all of us in real estate — lenders, Realtors and title companies — to explain to prospective buyers how interest rates affect the total cost of a home.
